  • Yay… new Macbook Pro 2012 is on it’s way

    macbook

Yup, the Macbook Pro 2012 is rumored to be on its way… Unfortunately, it is said that the 15″ model will make its debut soon. Apparently, some of the stores in US is running out of the stock and stopped accepting online orders. Hmmm… that can only mean one thing… the new supposedly thin macbook pro is going to be out soon :) hoooraayyy… Check out the article from macrumors.com for yourself.

As noted by AppleInsider, third-party resellers are beginning to experience shortages of Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Pro, hinting that a refresh may be coming in the near future.
Among those resellers reflecting backorder status on some of the current 15-inch MacBook Pros is J&R, which is now sold out of both the 2.2GHz model, which is listed as “out of stock,” and the 2.4GHz variety, which is currently advertised as “on order.”

In addition, Best Buy has also stopped accepting online orders for the 2.4GHz model for home delivery. The 15-inch notebook is still available on a store-by-store basis, however a quick check of individual store inventory in cities such as Chicago and Austin similarly indicate that between 40 and 60 percent of those shops are similarly reflecting stock outs.
Apple’s own online store is not yet showing any delays in fulfilling orders, but the company prioritizes its own distribution channels over third-party resellers, meaning that shortages generally show up first at those resellers.

Apple has been said to be ramping up production of new 15-inch MacBook Pro models carrying a thinner form factor, with Intel’s rumored April 29 debut of quad-core mobile Ivy Bridge processors undoubtedly driving that timeline.

With dual-core Ivy Bridge processors not launching until early June, it seems that Apple may not be launching upgraded 13-inch MacBook Pro models until that time. As for the 17-inch MacBook Pro, AppleInsider had previously claimed that Apple was likely to use a staggered rollout of the new MacBook Pro form factor, with the 17-inch model not receiving an update until perhaps several months after the smaller models.

  • Kobo Touch e-Reader – as a gift

    KOBO

My sister in law’s birthday was last month. She wanted Kindle as her birthday present. But the problem is Kindle is not sold here (not officially). Even if I did buy her Kindle from US but she won’t be able to buy books online because Malaysia is one of the country where Amazon doesn’t provide e-books to.

I have an e-book reader in my Samsung Note and I buy books from online too. I realised that Note has the Kobo software which is the first e-book store that is accessible by most of the country. Kobo has a few e-book reader that you can choose from and the version I got for my sister in law was the Kobo Touch e-Reader. Unfortunately, Amazon do not ship to Malaysia directly, so I had to get the http://hopshopgo.com  to send it to me.

I was quite disappointed with the size when I received it because the size of the screen was rather small. I noticed that my 5.3″ Note and the 6″ Touch e-Reader screen size are not much of difference. However, the special E-Ink Display is an awesome technology where you don’t see the reader as a mini tablet but it looks exactly like a paperback. I enjoyed reading books from it as it does not tire my eyes. This is one of the main reason why many opt for an e-Reader despite having a Reader software in their smartphone. Personally, I wouldn’t mind getting this for myself because it is so thin, light and easy to read. Since, it has wifi in it, I am able to download any e-book whenever I want (provided there is an online facility around :P ) I love the fact that I can read the Reader lying down on my bed  using only one hand and in one single tap, the page turns… you don’t even need to use your other hand (yes, I am very lazy to use both hands..hehehe… very painful la to keep your hands up so long :P )

Oohhh… one more interesting thing is, you can win fun awards and gain insight into your unique eReading fingerprint with Reading Life Stats in which you can track the minutes per reading session of your current read, the number of pages you’ve turned, plus see an overview of books completed in your library…

I bought the e-book for USD 110 from Amazon. If you are interested you can check out Kobobooks for more information

  • Digi Fandroid Day

    digiworkshop

I attended Digi Fandroid Day a few weeks ago and only now, I am able to post about it. As you may know, Digi is always the best when it comes to treating the bloggers. Frankly, compared to other telcos, I think Digi’s relationship with the bloggers are quite close… :) Anyway, Digi invited the Android Fans to their D’House in Shah Alam… I had a good time there, inspecting the gadgets displayed by Digi.

Being a gadget fan, I was too excited to see all those gadgets there… And I practically drooled over the gorgeous looking Samsung Galaxy 7.7. I do own the Samsung Note but the size of the 7.7 simply made me jealous. Back to story, the event by Digi was awesome, they invited the Google Malaysia’s head to talk about how Google can make your life easy. I was bewildered about the things the technology can help you in life. If you are helpless in sudoku, just by taking a picture of it, you can find the solution via Google… cool huh???

Next, Samsung’s Operational Accounting Manager, Mr. Leonard Kee talked about the Samsung’s gadget… If you look at the picture, he is dressed very simple but in each of his attire’s pocket has a Samsung gadget. I loved his presentation coz he was like a Magic man taking out a magical object to the audience who were ogling at the magical object (Samsung Device)… hahaha… I was one of the spectator too… I was thinking to myself, ‘Damn, working in Samsung will enable to touch and use all their devices everyday’.

After the introduction and games, the Digi members took us around the Studio D’House. Digi is environmental friendly and their working environment were made in such way too… All in all, I had a good time there and hoping for more in future.

  • Unbearable toothache

    tooth

Forgive me for my long absence…  I was suffering from severe toothache for almost one week. I am a coward when it comes to meeting  the dentist. All my life, I had bad experience with dentist. I find them to be very scary because they just don’t know how to calm down a patient (is that even a correct term for dental clients :P ). I still remember, one EVIL DENTIST in Kepong had accidentally made a hole on my upper molar tooth. I remember he hit the tooth with his dental gadget because he was busy yapping away. He panicked but he continued with his work on my teeth like nothing had happened. When I came back home, I realised there was a hole on my upper molar tooth… I was so angry, however, I didn’t go back to him though, I simply stop going there because no point asking him to rectify the matter.

Lots of people avoid dentist due to fear.

Fortunately, I met the BEST dentist who is not only gentle with me but he is so polite. I was so relaxed and I don’t have much anxiety in me when I go to him for my dental problems… His name is Dr. Reginald Sta Maria and you can find him at Dental Clinic Choo in Taman Berkeley, Klang. The charges are really reasonable and not ‘cekik darah’ lah… To extract my tooth, the charges were RM120 only. I have heard some paid almost RM300 in KL just for normal extraction. People usually freak out when they think about going to private dental clinics for treatment due to the pricing but personally I think this clinic’s pricing is reasonable.

A couple of years ago, I have done my root canaling there too.  It was a painless procedure but since I did my wisdom tooth extraction (by surgery) at the same time, I did endure some pain after the anesthetic wears off later (you will be prescribed with a pain killer and my pain was gone instantly). The entire procedure lasted about half an hour only. Before surgery, I was very worried  and I told the dentist about my anxiety. He told that I can have the relaxing gas which will put me to sleep but I will still know what is going on around me. True enough, during the procedure, I kept on moving my finger and my leg to see whether I am really awake or not… hahaha… my husband thought I was having muscle spasm :P By the way, The dentist allow someone to be there in the room with you if you feel uncomfortable. The procedure cost me RM800, actually the procedure was RM 600 only but because I use the gas, it was an extra RM200. I know some might be thinking, LORD, That is freaking expensive… but trust me, I feel I would not receive a better treatment elsewhere for that price. Don’t trust me??? scout for your self…
