I always get this weird look from people when they see me… They will be staring at me for a long time with a puzzled look… for those who just can’t stop themselves from asking, the first question that will pop out from their mouth is ‘Are you Chinese or Malay??’ All because I am wearing bindi on my forehead…
Yes, I look different from any normal Malaysian Indian. But the question I can’t stand the most is
‘Why are you so fair??’
Bloody hell… Can’t an Indian be fair skinned… Look at Bollywood movie lah… all of them are fair… I just can’t believe that Malaysia is a country comprising people from various religion and beliefs, yet people are always full of Waaahhhsss and oooohhhhsss when they encounter people like me… But the funny thing is… Chinese people always say I look Chinese and the Malays claims I look like a Malay girl… hahaha… one thing for sure, no one has ever mentioned I look Indian…
Sometimes I wished I have a board hung around my neck to explain about my heritage because I am so sick and tired being asked the same question… I appreciate some friends who doesn’t even bothered to ask… this simply means that they don’t care about my history… I wonder those people who bothers to ask, what are they going to accomplish by knowing whether I am Chinese or Malay?? When I was in US, no one asked whether I am Indian or not… they just said, I am a beautiful Malaysian. Yes, MALAYSIAN… I am a MALAYSIAN GIRL, people… ehemm (cough.. cough) correction
