  • Langkawi Trip

How did you spend your public holiday last Monday? I spent the day in Langkawi. If you are thinking that I went for leisure…. WRONG…. I went to attend a meeting. Luckily, I do not celebrate Christmas but it still sucks to spend the holiday working.

Eating at the Padang Pasir Restaurant before checking into the hotel

Accomodation was provided at the Grand Continental hotel. The hotel is situated next to the Langkawi mall, I would say it is a very
strategic location because it will be convenient for those who would like to do a last minute shopping before catching the plane.

    image

I have checked the pricing of the goods in most of the malls are relatively same. Duty free items such as Corell, Vision and Corningware are priced the same everywhere. I did buy a Corell dinner set for myself before I catched the plane. A dinner set for 6 (16 pieces) cost RM398. If I am not mistaken, it is about RM 500 in KL. By the way, to avoid tax, you must stay for at least 2 nights. But I wasn’t taxed although I stayed there for only a night. How???? Because I didnt buy a lot. The custom officer may ask for your arrival date if you buy a lot of the duty free stuff. So becareful.

In Langkawi there were a couple of MarryBrown branches. It has been so long since I have eaten the Marrybrown burgers, I made sure I didn’t miss my chance eating them before heading to KL. Boy!!! It tasted so good. YUMMY!!!!

  • Samsung Galaxy 7inch

Today, i went to check out a convection oven at newly opened store in Kepong. The store had lots of Samsung products because it was one of the Samsung distributor. I had a chance to check out the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 inch.

    image?

Initially, when I was deciding to get the Galaxy Note, I was contemplating to get this model but I realised that it is too big to use it as a phone on my ear. Hehehe… Anyway, I am glad that I didn’t get this coz it didnt look as attractive as the GN :p

The finishing of the GN is really elegant, on the other hand the tab 7 has a white cover at the back which did not look great for me. Anyhow, at the end of the day, the preference lies with the individual. If you are planning to get one for yourself, I suggest to get it via Celcom Plan coz they offer the best rate and they have the best coverage too. Check it out for yourself at www.celcom.com.my

I have mentioned in my previous post that I went to Beijing, China to attend a forum. China is indeed a shopping haven and you can practically get anything at suoer cheap price.

Of course, being a shopaholic and a gadget geek, I would not miss shopping there. So, what did i buy??

I bought an iPad Bluetooth Keyboard at Silk Market. Price was RNB200 only which is about RM100. I have checked out the price here, it was about RM180. I saved 80 ringgit but I think I could have gotten it cheaper. I am not that good in bargaining, I bet if you got that skill, you might even got it at RM50 :)

The keyboard can last you up to 40 hours and if you want to recharge it, all you need is plug in the usb cable to a computer. I don’t know how long will it take to charge because ever since I bought it, I haven’t charge it at all. Yup, I am not kidding, it’s true. I think I have actually charged my ipad 10 times but the keyboard has not been recharge yet. I assume it can last this long because when you are not using the keyboard, it will shut off by itself. When you activate your ipad, it will switch on automatically for your to type. Cool huh…

If you are interested to get it, you can check out at Lelong website coz I saw the same model sold at RM180.

  • How to bid for JPJ number

A couple of months ago, I got myself a brand new Alza. The reason I bought the car was because I wanted to get WVT**** plate number. So, to get my favorite number, I must bid at JPJ. Today’s post is going to be about bidding in JPJ.

    1. The first step is to choose your number.

    2. Next, identify whether your number is categorised in the special numbers. These numbers are more expensive.

    3. Select which JPJ state that you want your vehicle to be registered. I chose KL.

    4. Go to www.jpj.gov.my to check when your selected number is open for bidding. Be ready by downloading their form online.

    5. You need to prepare wang kiriman pos as a payment for your bidding. You need to pay half of the amount you are bidding. My number was a normal number which costs RM300. Hence, I went to the nearest post office to get wang pos for RM150.

    6. Once the bid is open, I went to Maju Junction JPJ to send in my application form with the wang pos. Go to the nombor giliran counter first, so that your form is checked by the customer representative. If all is good, you can drop your form in the designated box.

Next step is to wait for the results to be out. When the results is out, you can wait for the letter to arrive or you can call and ask the JPJ branch that you sent your form. I called and they mentioned that I must collect the letter a week later at JPJ Wangsa Maju (not in Maju Junction). Go to kaunter 5 to collect the letter. Kaunter 5 is located in the first floor. So, you need to take the stairs. To get there is kind of complicated, so you may ask people for direction.

After getting the letter, come down to kaunter 2 and pay the balance money. In my case, RM150 is my balance. Get the receipt and submit it to your car dealer.

For your information, you must pay the balance money wiyhin 30days and also register the number to any vehicle within 60days. Hope this post is helpful for you coz I had a tough time finding out about the process. Hehehe…

  • My first harvest from my own little garden

    vegetable-2

It has been almost 2 months since I’ve started planting some vegetables and flowers. Everyday without fail, I will water my plants, give them nutrient (baja of course) and kill the bugs that tries to eat my plants… Now, I successfully harvested my first batch of spinach. Hooray… Unfortunately, since I planted very little so they spinach was not a lot… It can’t even be one person’s side dish. hehee… Beside, some of the leaves got old coz I didn’t pluck it early. I let it grow because I want to see how big the leaves can get.

To tell the truth, potting sand produces healthier plants. My friends are quite amazed at the size of the leaves that is growing in my plant. They said that they tried to do some gardening in their house but the leaves were never this big. I got to agree with this because even my mom who tried planting in our house garden was not producing healthy plants. So, I guess the health plants comes when you actually invest some good potting sand, nutrient/fertliser, water adequately and check for bugs or insects that may be harming the plants. Would you believe if i say that everyday when I come back from work, I will check on my plants. I will look for bite marks on the leaves and also check out how much they have grown :P It is like looking after a child… hahaha…

  • Water Fountain from Konzept Garden

    fountain

I just recently moved to a new house… new house means you need to decorate it beautifully right… The interior of the house is decorated well, thanks to my husband and I and of course to the family members who contributed some great ideas to decor the house.

The house porch has about 5ft land which I didn’t want to cover with tiles. Reason is because I would like to do some small landscaping there. In my previous post, I have mentioned about I did some gardening but to add on to my already growing plants I wanted to have a small fountain. Looking into ‘Feng Shui’ or ‘Vasthu Sastra’ it is a good thing to have water flowing into the house. It means money flowing into your house and your wealth will never dry away. But of course, my actual reason to have the fountain is mainly to beautify my garden :)

So, where did I get my fountain?? I got it from konzeptgarden at RM650. Well, technically I didn’t buy it, my mother in law bought it for me as my birthday present. Such a good mother in law ah… hehehee… I was looking around at a few places for a nice size with reasonable priced fountain but other places seem to be overly priced. Konzeptgarden price was really a steal. If you just wanted the 3 bowl thingy with the stand, it is much cheaper… they quoted about RM300++ (i can’t remember exactly how much). The base made it costlier. But I wanted the deep base coz I was thinking to rear some small fishes… :)

So, guys if you are looking for a good fountain, check out www.konzeptgarden.com

  • Grand Lexis Hotel, Port Dickson

    Grand-Lexus

A couple of days ago, I had the opportunity to stay in Grand Lexus Hotel, Port Dickson. This hotel was previously known as Legend Water Chalet and since Legend Hotel was bought over by the Sunway Group, they had changed the name to Grand Lexis. There are two hotel located side by side. When you enter the vicinity of the hotel, the cheaper rate hotel (known as Lexis Hotel) is situated on the left and the more expensive Grand Lexis is located on the right… so, don’t get confused when you book them.. .hehehe…

This hotel is really awesome as it is situated right above the sea. Earlier this year, I visited the Lexis Hotel (known as Legend Water Chalet before) at RM320 per night. That room was facing the sea. But the one located in the Grand Lexis, to get the room that is facing the sea is more expensive… I think almost RM1000 (yup, you read right… it’s 1000) :p So, in Grand Lexis, my room wasn’t facing the sea, although it was above the water but it was facing other chalets… The best part is each room in the Grand Lexis has their own private pool… Wooowww… and the room has 2 king size bed!!!! it can accommodate whole family of 5 or 6 (if they are small in size… hehehe). The service is marvellous… Another lady was upgraded to bigger room just because her room’s pool was leaking… how cool is that?!! My room was really big and they upgraded her to a bigger room??? I just couldn’t imagine how bigger her room was…

Unfortunately, despite the great raves about the rooms… I got to say their food is not something to be raved… I hated it… I had to eat food from outside because the food in the hotel wasn’t that great… So far the best hotel food that I have eaten is in Swiss Garden Hotel (Flavor’s Restaurant) near Pudu Station… The price was reasonable and the food can really make you drool… :P

So, guys… if you are looking to do some activity with your family, I do recommend this hotel because it is really beautiful and you can do some activities such as archery and cycling with your family members. As for the food, well… every one has different taste… meal that I don’t like maybe liked by the others… but if you do find it not to your liking… you can always find alternatives outside…

    Room price starts from RM500++

    Bonia

Hahaha… I have no clue why did I put ‘Bonia mere Sonia’ as the title for this post… I just thought it kinda rhymes well… sounds lame isn’t it… :p

I have been wanting to buy a Bonia bag for quite some time… but I just didn’t buy it coz it was freaking expensive… I mean RM 700 for a bag??? well… i know that most people buy bags worth thousands of $$$ but I just don’t have the heart to spend so much on a handbag which I am going to be using for a year or two… Well, back to my story… a few weeks back, I went to the Jusco in Klang (they have excellent collections by the way) and I saw Bonia bag was on sale. The discount was 50% and the offer was too good for me not to get one for myself.

I love this bag coz it is big enough to fit my small diary, my ipad, my big wallet, hard disk, my key, some pens and my makeup bag… since it is not made of soft material, so the shape stays despite the many things that I stuff in my bag… :P I am happy with my purchase…

    Original price – RM699

    Offer price – RM349.50

  • Proud owner of Galaxy Note

    samsung-galaxy-note

One of the most talked about gadget currently is the Samsung Galaxy Note. When it first arrived here in Malaysia, I didn’t know what it was and what it could do. I wasn’t a big Samsung fan. I had Samsung phones before and I didn’t like it that much because they had some drawbacks. In fact, I had to really think and do my research before buying this phone.

Initially, Galaxy Note wasn’t my choice. I wanted to wait for iPhone 4s coz I really like the Siri feature. However, I decide to change my decision and get this dandy for myself. As my blog says, I am a technology geek… ? I fell in love with the Galaxy Note because of all the features that it can do…Before I go on and blabber about the Note, let’s take a look into the specification.

The camera is awesome (except that don’t capture so close to the subject coz the flash may blind them … hahaha). The images are crisp clear.

I love the Polaris Office software because now I can type anywhere I can. I have used Docs to go and Office Mobile but they are nothing compared to the Polaris Office. You can create, edit, change the colour of the font and even insert a picture. Cool right…

The S pen is one of the greatest invention in the century… hahaa… am I over exaggerating??? It is like a mini pen for my Galaxy Note. I am using it to take notes, draw and type. I love the fact that I can express myself using the S pen. The best part is, you can take the screen shot and even cut and paste any image that is in the Galaxy Note. This feature makes my life easier when I want to do my blogging activity.

You might be wondering, since I am a woman, isn’t it too big or it might look awkward to use it as a mobile phone because of the size. Trust me, I don’t feel shy or uneasy to place them on my ear. In fact, when I saw the Galaxy Note, I was a bit disappointed that it was small…. hahaha… Yeah, I was thinking that the size would be similar to Samsung 7 plus…. Well, I was wrong… the size is a little bit larger than the Samsung Galaxy S2 but beside the iphone 4, it certainly looks enormous. Even my HTC HD2 which has the screen size of 4inch looks smaller beside it.

Of course, since I am carrying the XX chromosome, I carry handbag and this allow me to place my Galaxy Note in it. As for those who carries XY chromosome, you might find it a bit uncomfortable to place them in your jeans. But so far, I have read reviews which indicate the men don’t find it difficult to carry them in their pockets. If you are still skeptical, just strut to the nearest SEP stores to test for yourself. After all, reading reviews and opinions is nothing like you going and touching it for yourself. :P

As for me, I am ecstatic with this magnificent gadget and downloading many Android base softwares to ease my life. I will share about the softwares that I download in my next post.
