Blackberry 9780 Review

Blackberry 9780 or also known as Blackberry Bold 3 is the first smartphone to come with the new Blackberry 6 Operating System. The blackberry Bold series design looks similar to each other but you will see the difference when you start to check out the phone.

Blackberry 9780 comes with 512MB Flash Memory and an expandable memory card slot that supports up to 32GB additional storage. When you buy the phone, it comes with 2GB memory card. Equipped with a 5Mp camera and a flash, it takes awesome pictures and the pictures quality are impressive.

What I like about this phone is, it carries some additional features such as RSS feeds (which my husband gets live scores update of his favourite football team) and I am sure you can get live update of your favourite blog as well… too bad my BB Curve 9300 doesn’t have this feature and I don’t know whether it is downloadable or not… BB 9780 also includes the Youtube, Blackberry Messenger, My space, Facebook and Twitter. I like the live update and immediate notification from both the Facebook and Twitter. So, you don’t need your laptop to access Facebook (my husband stopped using laptop to access his emails and Facebook :) )

As for the Internet, Bold 9780 has pretty fast HTML browser and it can load heavy websites. My BB 9300 can’t load heavy websites and the tab will close automatically when it tried to do so. The BB 9780′s keypad has one of the best qwerty keypad. It is easier to type and you don’t have to poke really hard to type the words. For your information, the keypad of the 9780 is placed close together unlike the 9300 which is separated, thus there are tendency to make mistakes when you type but once you get used to it, you don’t make that error.

There are 4 games (brickbreaker, sudoku, Klondike and Word Mole) preinstalled in the phone and Maps will guide you to your destination but I prefer Garmin to be installed in the phone because it has the voice system that gives you direction. So, we had to use my HTC HD2 when we are lost or looking for places that we don’t know.

By the way, all Blackberry phones come with universal charger. You can change the head of your charger according to the country you are going to. So, you don’t really need to buy a separate universal adapter for your charger.

Market Price for BB 9780 is about RM 1600. Comes with Brightstar (original) 1 year warranty.
