Do you know what is paraben? Have you even heard the term ‘paraben’? Many are still unaware the danger that lurks behind the name. Although not proven, role of paraben in causing many diseases still lingers at the back of my mind.
Are you bewildered? Let me explain to you, parabens are a class of chemicals used widely in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical world. A number of plants do have parabens but parabens used in products are often artificial, although some are identical to those found in nature. When you purchase products such as body lotion or toner, look at the ingredients, I am very sure that you would find methyl-paraben or some other type of paraben (e.g. ethyl). There are many forms of paraben used in products these days. The main reason why they use paraben is because it is cheap and prolongs the shelf life of a product.
Unfortunately, public are quite ignorant about the content that they often look at the price of the products and not the content. For those who have sensitive skin, it may cause irritation or blemishes. According to Wikipedia, an average amount of paraben were found in 20 sample of breast cancer tissues. So, put your thinking cap on and think what does this tells you…
I know what is paraben and I try my level best to look for paraben-free products. But to my dismay, it is difficult to find paraben-free products as paraben is not declared as dangerous and banned. If people choose not to purchase products that contain paraben, then, manufacturers will have no choice but to cope with the demand of paraben-free products. The future of paraben-free products lie in our hands… so, ladies and men, would you be concerned now about what skincare or products you use???

Recently, I went to One Utama Shopping Centre to shop a dinner dress for my sister in law. Her office organised an annual dinner, so, she wanted to look for some nice dress from One U. I tagged along with them coz I love window shopping.
